-Tempus Applied Solutions Holdings Inc. (OTC: TMPS) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Tempus Jets Inc., has been awarded a five-year contract administered by the Department of Interior for the provision of airborne threat simulation services in support of the Department of the Navy and its Research Development Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) function. The total contract value to Tempus is an estimated $25 million over five years.
Tempus will provide the Navy with Tempus owned/operated Learjet 35A and Learjet 60 aircraft that have been heavily modified by Tempus to include threat simulation devices, target towing equipment and military communications capability. Tempus will fly the aircraft in Navy threat simulation and training exercises in the vicinity of U.S. naval bases in the continental United States and Hawaii . Tempus' services will be provided starting in the fourth quarter of 2016, for a period of five years.
"We're honored to have been awarded this contract by the Department of Interior," said Tempus CEO Scott Terry . "We are excited for the opportunity to apply some newer technology and operational processes to the U.S. Navy threat simulation and RDT&E community."
The Navy has relied on specialized, contractor-provided electronic warfare (EW) aircraft and target tow services for more than three decades, in support of critical naval missions and the Navy's surface ship weapons system test and evaluation program. At the completion of testing events of the sort for which Tempus will be providing services, the participating Navy ships will be tasked to carry out operations overseas in support of U.S. national defense policy.
In addition to this assignment for the Navy, Tempus intends to further expand its provision of services throughout the electronic warfare and specialized services community by utilizing its new, highly-modified fleet of EW aircraft.
