-Cubic Global Defense , a business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) today announced the introduction of new technology that can adapt the C16 Automatic Grenade Launcher System (AGLS) for use in realistic, live training environments without interfering with the weapon's normal operation. Cubic will provide the Canadian Army with the enhanced system capability under a contract valued at more than $5.5 million as part of the Weapon Effects Simulation (WES) program.
“Cubic Global Defense strives to provide customers with what’s next in training innovation and the C16 AGLS adaptation is an essential tool to enable soldiers to truly train as they fight,” said Bill Toti, president of Cubic Global Defense. “This solution goes beyond traditional laser engagement by combining existing simulation techniques, information from the weapon system and state-of-the-art technology to produce high-quality instrumentation.”
Because the C16 AGLS must be able to operate as both a direct and indirect fire weapon, a versatile system was developed to maintain realism while operating in a force-on-force environment. The system adaptation includes the ability to engage with all WES instrumented targets. It seamlessly fits within the existing weapon specifications to maximize training fidelity.
