BAE 250,000 Flying Hours Milestone

BAE Systems’ Flight Training Centre has delivered more than a quarter of a million flying hours.

Over the past 22 years, more than 5,000 students have trained on 27 CT4B Air Trainers and graduated from the Flight Training College. Students have included personnel from the Australian Defence Force (ADF), the Republic of Singapore Air Force, Papua New Guinea Defence Force, Royal Brunei Air Force, Vietnam Airlines, Malaysian Airlines and Air Nippon Airways.

Another 2,000 Total Basic Flying and Intermediate Pilot training students have also attended the Flight Training College, and around 130 ADF courses have been completed through Basic Flight Training Services.

BAE Systems, in partnership with Beechcraft and CAE Australia, has leveraged the knowledge and experience gained through our Tamworth operations to submit a compelling proposal for AIR5428 – the future ADF pilot training system.

BAE Systems Director Aerospace, Steve Drury, said: “Our Air5428 offering to the Commonwealth Government is a low risk, value-for-money solution that meets the needs of all three services. As the Original Equipment Manufacturer for the Hawk Lead-in-Fighter program, we are uniquely placed to provide flexibility and efficiencies if the Commonwealth chooses to explore the fast jet pilot training system holistically.”
