-The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) a $67.3 million contract to provide spares for the Royal Saudi Air Force's (RSAF) F-15 sensor suite.
Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will produce LANTIRN Extended Range (ER) navigation pod spares, Infrared Search and Track (IRST) system spares and Sniper® Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) spares. Work will be performed at Lockheed Martin's facilities in Orlando and Ocala, Florida, and Santa Barbara, California, with deliveries beginning in 2018.
"Our sustainment operations ensure critical availability and performance rates for the RSAF's suite of LANTIRN ER, IRST and Sniper ATP systems," said Paul Lemmo, vice president of Fire Control/SOF CLSS at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. "Spares production will continue these efforts, successfully maintaining the sensor suite for years to come."
Since 1996, Lockheed Martin has provided the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the RSAF with its most advanced sensor systems. Production and sustainment efforts for the RSAF are ongoing.
LANTIRN ER pods operate day or night, providing low-level navigation with terrain-following radar on international F-15 and F-16 aircraft. IRST is a passive sensor system used by international F-15 customers. Sniper ATP is a precision targeting system chosen by the U.S. Air Force and more than 20 international air forces.
