The Instructor, Stef Stienstra, specializes in defense against Biological, Chemical, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats. He lectures on these subjects at institutions including the NATO School in Oberammergau (Germany) and the NATO Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence in Vyskov (Czech Republic). He is also a visiting professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where students can earn an MSc in this field. In addition, he advises various governments and academic projects on biological monitoring systems for the early detection of biological threats. During the COVID-19 outbreak, he provided the Ministry of Defence with forecasts on the progression of the pandemic, using analyses such as wastewater surveillance.
