Strengthening MRO support & services for Vietjet
During the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to France on September 10, Vietjet and Thales signed a key Maintenance & Repair (MRO) contract. As part of this strategic Repair-By-The-Hour (RBTH) contract, Thales will provide comprehensive component maintenance services for Vietjet’s A320 and A330 fleets. Thales' expert support and services will help optimise fleet availability, lower overall operational lifecycle costs, and expedite repairs.

Aviation was defined as a key pillar of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established between France and Vietnam in October 2024. This contract leverages Thales’ global MRO network and Vietjet’s fleet modernisation ambitions.

Extending Partnership to Digital Aviation, AI and Cybersecurity
Vietjet and Thales also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) around digital aviation, avionics, cybersecurity and AI-enhanced airline operations. This MoU will explore technologies to optimise flight operations, data-driven maintenance and leverage Thales’ connected aircraft services.

Additionally, this cooperation will focus on the use of AI and cybersecurity to protect Vietjet’s critical aviation systems through secure cloud solutions, predictive analytics and decision-support tools. As a leading provider of commercial aviation solutions and nurturing over 800 AI experts, Thales can combine expert knowledge of the aviation industry and deep tech.

To strengthen Vietnam’s aviation hub, major airlines like Vietjet are investing with partners in early training programmes and technical certification pathways for local talent. Through this MoU, Thales also positions itself as an active partner to enhance local capabilities and transfer knowledge to Vietjet. Ultimately, these initiatives will contribute to the development of strong engineering and support capabilities in Vietnam.

“With Thales’ 30-year presence in Vietnam, we are honored by Vietjet’s continued trust. We look forward to supporting the airline in its next phase of growth through innovation, advanced technology and operational excellence.” Pascale Sourisse, CEO of Thales International, Thales.

“Our partnership with Thales will not only enhance the reliability, safety and operational efficiency of Vietjet’s fleet, but also open up new areas of cooperation in digital technology, AI and cybersecurity. Together with leading French partners, we look forward to connecting technological expertise with a dynamic aviation market, contributing to stronger trade, investment and ties between Vietnam and France.” Nguyen Thanh Son, CEO of Vietjet.
