Thales today announced TopSky – America, a modern, cloud-based, air traffic management platform specifically designed for the unique operational, cybersecurity, and scalability requirements of the United States National Airspace System.

Building upon TopSky – ATC, the most advanced and widely deployed air traffic control automation system in the world, managing 40 percent of the global airspace and used in more than 100 countries, TopSky – America combines the latest advancements in automation, resilience, and controller decision-support tools customized for the unique requirements of U.S. air traffic operations. These capabilities will deliver greater predictability for air carriers and the traveling public, improve operational performance, and help reduce workload on the controller workforce—while continuing to uphold the highest standards of safety.

“TopSky – America reflects a new approach to air traffic modernization: leveraging a mature, secure, operationally proven foundation while delivering the flexibility, sovereignty, and customization needed to support the world's most complex airspace system.” said Rob Geckle, CEO of Thales North America. “Drawing on more than 80 years of innovation in the U.S., Thales is committed to delivering a fast, low-risk pathway for the future of air traffic management in America.”

Designed to help the Federal Aviation Administration replace decades of fragmented systems with a unified Common Automation Platform, TopSky – America leverages artificial intelligence and brings together air traffic operations in a modern environment that reduces complexity, supports information sharing, and improves controller situational awareness. As a cloud-based solution, TopSky – America also gives the FAA the flexibility to continuously evolve its air traffic management features while scaling to support the future growth and complexity of U.S. airspace operations.

While based on proven global technology, TopSky – America’s capabilities, integrations, and development roadmap is tailored exclusively for the U.S.

All enhancements, software development, and upgrades for TopSky – America will be designed, developed and led by American engineers. This investment will create hundreds of new jobs, expand the company's U.S. footprint and ensure that future platform evolution remains closely aligned with the needs of American air traffic controllers, the FAA, and the broader U.S. aviation community.

As a trusted partner to the U.S. government for decades with 5,000 employees in the country, supporting the FAA, Department of War, and other critical national missions, Thales brings the experience, operational expertise, and long-term commitment needed to modernize America's air traffic management.

Modernizing the National Airspace System
The FAA’s call for additional congressional funding is essential to continue modernizing the National Airspace System, including full deployment of the Common Automation Platform. The FAA has already made strong progress through the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” and sustained investment will be key to transforming the nation's aviation infrastructure to support 21st-century growth, accommodate increasing air traffic demand, and meet the expectations of the American public for a safer, more efficient, and more reliable air transportation.
