-Dynamit Nobel Defence welcomes the conclusion of a framework agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV – Försvarets materielverk) for the delivery of the vehicle-mounted mine-laying system SKORPION².
The agreement runs through 2033 and has a total value of approximately SEK 4 billion (EUR 360 million). In addition, an initial call-off order valued at approximately SEK 900 million (EUR 82 million) has already been placed.
The contract scope includes live and training ammunition, as well as training and demonstration material.
With this procurement, Sweden is strengthening its capability to rapidly, flexibly and effectively deploy anti-tank mine barriers, thereby making an important contribution to both national and collective defence capabilities.
SKORPION² has been designed for integration on a variety of vehicle platforms and enables the rapid deployment of anti-tank mines in accordance with operational requirements. The system is capable of laying up to 400 mines within ten minutes, supporting the delay, channelisation and movement control of opposing mechanised forces.
FMV’s decision underlines the importance of modern obstacle-laying capabilities for national and allied defence in Europe.
With Sweden, another European NATO member has selected SKORPION². Denmark and Latvia have already chosen the system. The use of a common capability enhances interoperability among allied armed forces and further strengthens European defence cooperation.
Dynamit Nobel Defence would like to thank FMV for the trust placed in the company. We are fully aware of the responsibility associated with supporting the Swedish Armed Forces within the framework of this significant programme and contributing to the strengthening of Europe’s security and defence architecture.
