Safran Launches its Land OmniGuard Solution to Counter Drone Threats in Operational Environments

Safran Electronics & Defense opens a new chapter in counter-drone operations with the launch of Land OmniGuard, an integrated solution that leverages all of its expertise in optronics, resilient navigation, and embedded artificial intelligence. Thanks to its stabilized long-range sensors, the system delivers passive surveillance and tracking capabilities on the move while ensuring high image quality.

Land OmniGuard integrates VAMPIR NG, PASEO, and GEONYX technologies, along with an embedded artificial intelligence suite, delivering a completely passive and seamless chain from detection to neutralization. The system, mounted on a land vehicle, allows :

• Discreet threat detection : The VAMPIR NG sensor, originally developed for long-range naval surveillance and now enhanced with AI, enables the detection of potential threats without emitting any signal. This technology ensures continuous, passive vigilance even in hostile environments.
• Target identification, classification, and tracking : Once a threat is detected by VAMPIR NG, the PASEO system takes over. With its advanced optronic capabilities and AI-driven image processing, PASEO identifies and tracks the target, while artificial intelligence optimizes threat classification. PASEO can then designate the target for kinetic or electronic response as appropriate. By automating these processes, operator cognitive load is significantly reduced, enabling faster and more effective decision-making in the field.
• Resilient positioning and navigation : To provide precise, real-time positioning of both LAND OMNIGUARD and the target, and to ensure flawless synchronization of actions—even without GNSS signals or in jamming conditions—the GEONYX inertial navigation system is seamlessly integrated into the solution. Production of GEONYX has increased sevenfold between 2022 and 2026, reflecting its growing importance in demanding environments.

This technological advance has already convinced a globally recognized European leader in air defense, which has awarded Safran a first contract for Land OmniGuard.
