Rockwell Collins Teams Up With Atlantic Aviation Group to Modernize 757 and 767 Aircraft Displays Throughout Europe

Rockwell Collins and Atlantic Aviation Group (AAG) have signed an agreement to provide Large Display System (LDS) retrofits to owner-operators of Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft throughout the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EuMEA) region. Building upon the companies’ previous LDS completion for Star Air, the agreement sets the stage for streamlining operators’ ability to comply with upcoming mandates.

Rockwell Collins’ LDS is the only fully integrated, certified and Boeing-endorsed display upgrade solution for the B757/B767 aircraft that removes all Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) from the cockpit. The LDS upgrade will help B757/B767 owner-operators avoid obsolescence issues currently associated with CRT systems.

The LDS upgrade improves reliability five-fold, decreases line maintenance actions by 80 percent, provides a positive return on investment and decreases avionics weight. It features three large-format 15.1-inch LCD displays that replace six CRT displays and numerous analog instruments to provide operators with a number of benefits, including:

• Boeing collaboration and support to ensure Boeing flight deck philosophy is maintained
• A platform to incorporate future safety-enhancing technology such as airport taxi maps, data link weather, surface guidance, and synthetic and enhanced vision systems
• Complete replacement of all older displays and majority of older line-replaceable units (LRUs)
• Engine-indication and crew-alerting system (EICAS) displays replaced and integrated into the LDS system
• Reduced pilot training due to alignment with Boeing flight deck philosophy on its most modern aircraft, including Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX
• The only certified system that is fully integrated and eliminates all the older EDUs from the cockpit
