-L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received a $55 million award from the U.S. Army to support the Binocular Night Observation Device (BiNOD) program by supplying the NOVA™ night-vision goggle system.
The NOVA system’s image intensifier technology provides day-and-night, all-weather situational awareness for soldiers. L3Harris will move directly into full-rate production of the system, which the company designed to meet the U.S. military’s needs for the next two decades and beyond.
“From day one, we partnered closely with the Army to design a binocular system tailored to the evolving demands of the modern battlefield,” said Brenna Baker, President, Integrated Vision Solutions, Communications & Spectrum Dominance, L3Harris. “Our BiNOD solution reflects that collaboration, and we’re prepared to deliver this capability at speed and scale for soldiers.”
The BiNOD program award builds on L3Harris’ support of existing U.S. Department of War night-vision solutions, including the Fused Panoramic Night Vision Goggle that provides the U.S. Special Operations Command with unprecedented situational awareness for improved mobility, targeting and lethality.
L3Harris’ NOVA system is also available to allied nations that are investing in modernization efforts to increase situational awareness at night across their land forces.
