Indra Wins Contract to Implement its ATM Systems in Vietnam

Indra will deploy its surveillance radar systems and will renovate the Da Nang Approach Control Center that manages the central air space of Vietnam.  Granted by Middle Region Air Traffic Services Co. (MIRATS), a branch company of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the contract will be implemented by 2016.

With this contract, Indra strengthens its position as one of the main providers of air traffic management systems in Asia.

Near Da Nang airport, Indra will install a station with a primary and a secondary radar, which will improve air movement control in the area, increase security and help to increase the number of flights that can be managed.

Additionally, Indra will renovate the systems of the control center that provides service in this region. These systems will display integrated information about plane positions, detect possible conflicts between routes, and facilitate land-to-land and land-to-air communications.

Over the last few years Indra has won major contracts in India, China, Mongolia, Indonesia, Philippines and Australia, and now Vietnam. Special emphasis should be given to, for instance, the implementation of control centers in Xian and Chengdu (China) which manage air movement in five regions of this Asian giant. Also in China, Indra has deployed a network of radars that supports surveillance in 60% of the country's airspace.

In India, Indra has supplied the network of radars for most of the country's airspace, and has implemented its technology in 38 airports.

Also, Indra has important contracts in Australia where it is currently renovating all radar systems on the western coast. Indra is also the main provider of radio navigation systems on the continent.

Lastly and outside the air traffic market, Indra has already completed projects in Vietnam with the biggest government company, Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
