-IAE International Aero Engines AG (IAE) congratulates Embraer for this morning's KC-390 aircraft's first flight in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil. The new engine from IAE, the V2500-E5 engine, has successfully powered the first flight. We are incredibly proud to support our partner Embraer in the development of this cutting-edge, world-class military aircraft. The continued evolution of our hallmark V2500 engine is a testament to our IAE team's ability to innovate and achieve our customers' goals. We look forward to closely collaborating with Embraer through the next phase of testing to ensure on-time entry into service.
The V2500-E5 engine, rated at 31,330 pounds of thrust, was selected in July 2011 by Embraer Defense and Security and the Brazilian Air Force, which established the KC-390 requirements. While Embraer and its customers desire maximum commonality with the V2500 engine, changes have been made to optimize installation with the new airframe.
