Connectivity & Flight Planning Services for Government Agencies

Rockwell Collins has recently launched a new Government Aviation Services (GAS) group focused on providing mission connectivity, cockpit connectivity and mission support services to meet the specific needs of government agencies around the world. GAS is a new business area within the company’s Information Management Services (IMS) business.

“A government’s mission is often quite different than a commercial or business aviation operator’s mission,” said Jeff Johnson, senior director for GAS at Rockwell Collins. “For example, a government operator may prioritize getting where he or she needs to be faster or at a certain time over taking a route that uses less fuel. Our focus is on tailoring solutions to the unique needs of this specific customer base.”

Rockwell Collins’ GAS services are designed to help rapidly employ airborne assets at a moment’s notice and enable aircrews to maintain optimal situational awareness anywhere in the world. These services include:

• Mission Connectivity: Satellite communication and next-generation connectivity solutions that provide vital coverage for all mission needs, enabling the delivery of critical voice, video and data in real time, anywhere in the world.
• Cockpit Connectivity:  Rockwell Collins operates the largest aviation network in the world, providing mission-critical voice and data communications over VHF, HF and SATCOM, and delivering the most extensive and reliable coverage available, even in remote locations.
• Mission Support: Flight planning, international trip support and flight operations management software delivered through web and app-based interfaces. This includes dedicated solutions designed to reduce operating costs through smart fuel planning and the ability to host and store SMS data, including Operational Risk Matrices.

Rockwell Collins has signed several agreements with government aviation customers around the world, including a contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to use the company’s ARINCDirectSM flight planning, flight scheduling, international trip support, aircraft data link, safety management and flight tracking services to support flight operations for its fleet of 32 specially-equipped flight inspection aircraft.
