Army Awards Ombra Contract to Bring Touchless Biometrics to the Battlefield

As the U.S. military accelerates its shift to Zero Trust security, Ombra has been awarded a Phase II U.S. Army contract to develop touchless biometric authentication technology that allows soldiers to verify identity in the field—without passwords, PINs, or physical tokens.

The solution, known as TB-CAM (Touchless Biometrics Capture and Matching), combines facial recognition, periocular scans, and touchless fingerprint biometrics into a mobile application for Android devices. Designed to work in low-connectivity and extreme environments, the system addresses one of the Army’s biggest cybersecurity challenges: keeping authentication fast, secure, and resilient at the tactical edge.
