Nick Watts served in the British Army, obtaining a specialist qualification as a Unit Master Coach for small arms; roles included mechanised infantry and armoured reconnaissance.

He has been a policy advisor to British politicians on defence acquisition, UK and NATO defence policy. He has been an adviser to industry on matters related to cyber security policy.

He writes as a freelance journalist covering all aspects of defence and security policy, including cyber security.

Nick was Director of the Future of Europe Trust, an All-Party Parliamentary Group, based in the House of Commons in Westminster, from 1991 – 99. This work involved outreach to the new generation of political leaders in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia, following the end of the Cold War.

Nick has a Bachelor’s degree in modern history.
